I saw this on one of the national news channels. I’m not sure if it is all throughout Chicago and it’s many suburbs or maybe it is contained to one or two areas. But apparently citizens can call the police to report another citizen who they have knowledge of that is driving and has been drinking…and they get paid a reward of something like $100 for turning that driver in (and I imagine only if caught and convicted).

Apparently the program has become fairly popular (at least for the citizens reporting others) and has been a real help to the police.

Do you have any details about this program that you might share Does a person reporting need the driver’s license plate number make & model of car and name of driver Must they have witnessed that person imbibing alcolhol Or must all they observe is eratic driving & suspect that driver of DUI and report the license plate make model color etc.

Sounds like a great program… the police get a tip and when it’s proven correct they pay for the information ! If you drink… don’t drive and if you see a person doing so turn them in… they may hit your Momma in a crosswalk or kill your little sister in a car accident !
